Amazing Grace. Grace Bay Beach is considered by many to be the most glorious in the entire Caribbean. (OK, all you geography wonks, you're right: The Turks and Caicos islands aren't technically part of the Caribbean, but they're close enough to offer the best in tropical settings, warm turquoise waters and, of course, this fabulous beach.)
As word has spread about the irresistible charms of Grace Bay Beach, developers have swiftly moved in to build increasingly larger, fancier and more expensive resorts and condos all along the dunes.
Happily for thrifty romantics, there's still one resort, The Sands at Grace Bay, that manages to combine affordability with its gorgeous beachy setting. The resort consists of a series of small buildings tucked into tropical gardens of fuscia and flame bougainvillea and palm trees. There is a total of just 114 oversized suites, all with wrap-around screened terraces facing the sea or the gardens. Obviously, some of these suites are located on the ground floor, and some (hint: #3107 is one) have a porch door that opens directly onto the dunes, just steps from the beach. Talk about romantic privacy! This is like having your very own beach house, with benefits.
Other perks at The Sands include Hemingway's, the resort's trendy indoor/outdoor restaurant, tennis courts, a spa and fitness center, plus a friendly staff that's eager to make your romantic visit memorable (This is Mid-Range, from $185 to $510 per night, double.)
